"VideoArt Versus Realities"

"VideoArt Versus Realities"
Les Instants Video - Best of 22nd Video Art Festival, Marseille, France

Curator: Marc Mercier

VisualcontainerTV is glad to host a videoart selection from 22nd edition of Les Instants Video, one of the most interesting videoart festival in Europe.

“Video art versus realities”

Video art has always been a matter of crossing of ideas. An artist explores social and political realities, poetic worlds, specific territories.... and he gives his point of view on it. What is a point a view ? Not at all an opinion. Indeed, the artist is not a journalist, neither a sociologist.
The point of view creates an interval between the artist and what he is filming. Within this inbetween gap, the possible of a language, the cinematic-writing, a thought in action will find their way.
The program we present invites the spectator to travel thanks to different points of view from Kirghizstan, Palestine, England or France... and to explore our contemporary world.

About BERLINERPOOL:
Art is a field of work with an insufficient infrastructure compared to other "sectors". We diagnose especially in the field of communication a deficit of infrastructure. For this reason berlinerpool
started to work in this field.
We build an archive of portfolios and catalogs, present artists to curators and galleries, introduce art supporting programs to artists and publish their event news on our internet platform mondaynews.net. (You can find more on berlinerpool activities under “current tasks” on this page.)
Long term aim of berlinerpool is to supply artists (and art initiatives) with an infrastructure to provide facilities such as connections, consulting, fundraising, project management, public relations. Briefly: a multifunctional agency that undertakes all the tasks other than “creative production”. This will give the opportunity to artists to invest all their energy to creative production.

BORDER (Less) videoart project from Romania

BORDER(LESS) - Videoart from ROMANIA
a project curated by: Gabriela Diana Gavrilaş
7th May to 26th May 2010

only on VisualcontainerTV
http://www.visualcontainer.tv

border (less)
The border (less) project aims to investigate the notions of frontier, border or boundary from the perspective of video art. It is a well-known fact that the implications produced by the globalist vision, mainly by means of reconsidering state frontiers, has encountered a growing interest lately in all the fields of human activity. Consequently, this is the starting point for our project.
Born out of the social reality of a frontier city, the project focuses, as its title suggests, on the idea of border, both physical and metaphysical, which is about to dissolve in the present social and political context.
Starting from the premises that the lack or the dissolving of the geo-political frontiers finally reaches a matter of personal identity, we propose three possible levels of visual research:
The sociopolitical level aims a more general spectrum, mostly critical to the concept of global village which is associated mainly with the figure of Marshall McLuhan (The Gutemberg Galaxy).
The sociocultural level, as effect of the sociopolitical one, aims the disappearance, import, transaction, transformation and reinventing of some fundamental values of a nation.
The psychological-philosophical level implies a mapping of the individual limits in the process of reasoning and communication with reality and the more or less contingent environment.
In conclusion, the Border(less) project aims to circumscribe the idea of dissolving the limits in terms of video art in order to identify the semantic and hermeneutical multivalences of the project.

BridA Monography Slovenia

BridA/Jurij Pavlica, Sendi Mango, Tom Kerševan
17th February - 18th March 2010

VisualcontainerTV is glad to present a special Monography about BridA/Jurij Pavlica, Sendi Mango, Tom Kerševan (SLO) on the first birthday of VisualcontainerTV.
From february09, VisualcontainerTv had hosted a lot of International videoart festival and International videoart project and monography, so VisualcontainerTv on his birthday is glad to presents a solo show about BridA, with a special first night of “Nanobug” 2010.

About the premiere of “Nanobug”
BridA / Tom Kerševan, Sendi Mango, Jurij Pavlica, 2010

For this video we used a special technique that gives the video a particularly dynamic feel, even if the characters are not moving. We can see and read the video like a comic. The only animation is the creation of the figures itself. The images are created by the sand and this is a tribute to the known physical property of nanoparticles called ‘self-assembly’.
The story is about a bald man who doesn’t have any arms.
He meets with a friend who recommends that he visit a Nano Lab where the nano scientist will help him. Using nanotechnology, the nano scientist makes the armless man’s dream a reality and he gets arms. He is really happy but the next day he is back to the Nano Lab asking for something more, he wants to surprise to his girlfriend with a new haircut! But something goes wrong and he comes out with six hands, like an insect.
His girlfriend gets scared and she runs away. Now he is sad and is asking himself what happened. The science and technology can help us to solve some problems and disease but misuse can end with undesirable effects.
