The second Oodaaq festival of poetic images is being held from 10 to 20
May in different places in the city-center of Rennes. There will be a
total of 9 video screenings, 5 exhibitions, 4 video-windows, 2
roundtables and 1 performance night.

The festival creates an
artistic itinerary which links different art forms, but also cultural
institutions with popular cultural places and public space. The festival
seeks to confront the different forms of images in contemporary art.
The screening nights will be an opportunity to present international
video art selections, curated by L'Œil d'Oodaaq, or by our partners
(from Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Colombia, but also Rennes), on the walls
of the city center.
The exhibitions will be held at Les Ateliers du
Vent, Standards gallery, espace M, L'Antre-Temps gallery and Superstrat
gallery. They will become places of experimentation on the undefined
limits of the medium video, bringing together visual and spatial
installations, photography, drawings, traces of performances.
Performance art will be highlighted during a special performance night at Le Jardin Moderne.
Like last year, curious strollers can discover videos in several shop windows in the streets of the city-center.
Two roundtables will be organized on the questions of poetic images (at
the European Art School in Rennes) and international (video) art
networks (at the Maison Internationale in Rennes).
The Oodaaq crew hopes to meet you on this poetic itinerary through the city of Rennes!

www.loeildoodaaq.fr

De Pinto strongly uses new media as a “thinking medium” in which involves the audience, creating performative experiences and immersive environments. His projects usually involve others – musicians, choreographers and artists – from different cultural backgrounds, styles and identity genres. These collaborations enable De Pinto to undertake new and radical experimental projects, capable of stimulating discussion about stereotypes and prejudices, asking awkward questions in the areas of culture, politics and religion.

VisualContainerTv is the first Web Tv entirely devoted to the International videoartworld.
A project by VisualContainer, the first Italian videoart distributor.
The channel is welcoming solo and group exhibitions and festivals under the care of curators from all over the world only on invite.VisualcontainerTVhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07474084310822204283noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3178863441767478986.post-40501171402637644472012-05-08T22:02:00.000+02:002012-05-08T22:02:03.855+02:00CHARACTERS on VisualcontainerTV

CHARACTERS
New people, new video identifications
Videoart selection by Giorgio Fedeli (Italy)

from 9 May to 13 June 2012
only on VisualcontainerTV
www.visualcontainer.tv

CHARACTERS
New people, new video identifications
"The video device has represented a privileged medium in contemporary
art history to identify the anthropological coordinates of mankind,
thanks to its ability in slipping into the spaces of living and shooting
both the most ordinary and the hidden identities in our walks of life,
thus bringing the "different", the marginalized, the '"other"ones to
light.
For over forty years the videocamera has become the bearer
of possible visions of the world and its actors by operating from some
vantage point directly inside, in contact with or as an emanation of the
real: in such a way, it has steadily coped with the problem of
attributing identity to people who are actually in constant and
unpredictable mobility of roles and designations.
What are
therefore the possible characterizations of our and other’s self
nowadays, when the traditional biological and social labels seem to have
been torn and the physical and cultural traditions of our identity in
some way been altered by an incessant technological and social melting
pot?
The answer is likely to lie in a delicate balance between the
will to bring back our human specificity and the proactive attention to
the most plausible suggestions of all new issues that are behind our
doors or already in our homes."
Giorgio Fedeli
BEST OF 2011
VisualcontainerTv for the 3rd anniversary of the webtv is glad to
presents the Best OF 2011 from OODAAQ Festival based in Rennes, France

About OODAAQ
Oodaaq is an island discovered in 1975 northeast of Greenland. This bank
of gravel and silt, covered by several meters of ice, is said to be the
most northern emerged land on earth.
It is on this inaccessible and invisible territory that we settled our
camp, in order to explore contemporary artistic creation. The nomad
inhabitants of Oodaaq are travelling the world and form a collective of
creators
in constant evolution.
Leading an existence somewhere between reality and imagination, the
island of Oodaaq can be seen as a metaphor for video- and photographic
images. Although their models are most of the time concrete and real,
the image they produce of them is by definition artificial, immaterial,
manipulated and manipulating.
The gap between image and reality allows a poetic approach to our
environment.
www.loeildoodaaq.fr

The first Oodaaq Festival of poetic images took place from 5 to 14 May
2011 in Rennes, with exhibitons, screening nights, video windows, as
well as performances and a video-bus. More than 80 artists came to
exhibit, screen and perform their work in more than 15 places throughout
the city of Rennes. The success of the first festival, with 3800
visitors, leads l’OEil d’Oodaaq to reconduct this human and artistic
experience with the second
edition of the festival in May 2012.

"Flowers Of Chaos " Chinese Animation Videoart selection curated by
Cecilia Freschini (independent curator based in Beijing) in
collaboration with Artverona Fair (It)

Project Statement
The aim of this project is to highlight a specific sector of Chinese
video art by focussing attention on its particular origins. What do the
artists selected, all from the Chinese mainland, see when they look
around?
Chaos! Overwhelming disorder, which they deal with through their voice:
tales and allegories that investigate today's society in an ironic
manner, though without being afraid of tackling the Party's heavy
ideology.
Like plants growing in a hostile terrain, their roots burrow deep down
towards an uncertain source of nutrition, and they proliferate in the
depths, beyond naked social distress. They are flowers born from chaos,
drunk with the energy that surrounds them, but also fatigued by the
continuous and incessant process of urban modernization. In their search
for an identity they are forced to elude the oppression that has so
harshly tested their very creative survival.
VisualcontainerTv presents on ExhibitContainer - format dedicated to the

based collages reloaded ", a special screening from the 6°edition of
Streaming Festival - International Videoart Festival from The Hague, NL.

About Streaming Festival:
Contemporary videoculture, Sound and 2D programs in the 6th edition of the Streaming Festival from 1 to 18 December 2011.

The Streaming Festival is an art event for independent artists
exhibiting unconventional audio-visual art from all over the world. This
event takes place once a year on www.streamingfestival.com.

The Streaming Festival is a non-profit project created to encourage the understanding of audio-visual art.
Naturally, the artists’ viewpoints differ from one another, whether in their subjects or in the way they created their work.
This edition aims to show a sample of that diverse contemporary
videoculture while stressing the all-time significance of artistic
development.
In addition to the many videos on display, this edition will première a whole new direction with the Sound and 2D programs.
www.streamingfestival.com

“In the traditional collage different materials and sources are composed
onto a surface, but in this case, into a single digital video.
This program is based on films using found footage, multiple
video-channels, paintings and photographs that are rearranged, cut and
(re-)edited into a layered composition. Motion based collages offer the
possibility to the artist to make a statement without the need for an
explicit explanation of their rearrangement or intentions, as they are
open to interpretation by comparing the different visual elements”
Festival Miden*, the first Greek video art festival presented in open

held in Kalamata, GR.
The festival is founded, organized and curated
by a team of contemporary Greek artists, who are all linked with
Kalamata since childhood. It is an independent organization, supported
by Kalamata’s Historic Centre Organization, the Messinia Chamber of
Commerce and the Municipality of Kalamata.
The main purpose of the
festival is the free presentation, promotion and development of Greek
and international video art and new media art, in times dominated and
defined by “image” and “technology”, creating a new, alternative,
peripheral meeting point for emerging and established video and media
artists from Greece and all over the world.

Since 2005,
Festival Miden has been gradually established as one of the most
successful and interesting video art festivals in Greece and abroad and
has been a significant point of cultural exchange for Greek, European
and international video art.
Festival Miden has presented screening
programs, exhibitions and collaborations all over Greece, while
collaborating with various art groups, art schools, art spaces,
organizations and other festivals in Greece and internationally.
(*Miden means “zero” in Greek)

“A butter cow for a Zen poem. Acrobatic balance exercises in a
“cylindric cube”. A water spill runs through a city while life rolls
smoothly. The calm charm of a boy moulding clay objects in a
stroboscopic whirlwind of images. An unusual way to serve breakfast.
Thrown bags that come to life drawing us to unexplored abandoned areas
of the city -and the mind. Sisyphean repetitions of “it” and the “self”.
Unexpected explorations, explanations and interpretations of the world,
acrobatic studies, balances of the mind and semiotic games on
perception, vision, communication, post-modern culture and linguistics.
Endless references, metaphors and displacements in a selection
regarding the sensitive equilibrium of human existence and the
fluctuations of life. Like stepping on one leg...”
By: Gioula Papadopoulou, Giorgos Dimitrakopoulos.
www.festivalmiden.gr

MONOBALANCE Screening:

Jun’ichiro ISHII, Butter Cow, Taiwan / France 2011, 6.28

Jennifer Ross, Caught in Mise en Scene, UK 2010, 3.35

Jonas Nilsson, Idiopathic, Sweden 2010, 3.20

Jacob Tonski, Balance Study, Threshold, USA 2008, 1.00

LIAO Chi-Yu, Mega-rich Breakfast, Taiwan 2010, 6.00

Sarah Buckius, …stacking…stacking…stacking…, USA 2009, 7.28

Gérard Cairaschi, Enchantment, France 2010, 6.35

Félix Fernandez, Ich allein auf fremde wegen, Spain / Germany 2011, 6.00

Kelly Oliver and Keary Rosen, Second Firing, USA 2010, 2.33

Tina Willgren, The Polymoids, Sweden 2010, 2.51

Albert Merino, The trace of salt, France 2010, 7.40

VisualContainerTv is the first Web Tv entirely devoted to the International videoartworld.
A project by VisualContainer, the first Italian videoart distributor.
VisualcontainerTv is glad to present on SpecialOne - format dedicated to the most interesting international multimedia artists - ANDERS WEBERG Videography from 2005 - 2011 selected videoart works.

About ANDERS WEBERG
Anders is an artist working in video, sound, new media and installations and he is primarily concerned with identity. The human body lies at the root of projects that formally and conceptually chart identity and its construction as a preamble to broaching matters of violence, genders, memory, loss or ideology in which personal experiences co-exists with references to popular culture, the media and consumerism. Specializing in digital technologies, he aims to mix genres and ways of expression to explore the potential of audio visual media.

He coined the term Peer-to-peer art or (p2p art) in 2006. Art made for - and only available on - the peer to peer networks. The original artwork is first shared by the artist until one other user has downloaded it. After that the artwork will be available for as long as other users share it. The original file and all the material used to create it are deleted by the artist. ”There’s no original”. The aesthetics of ephemerality.

Has exhibited at numerous art/film festivals, galleries, and museums internationally, including:
Museum of Modern Art 2011, Buenos Aires, Argentina. File Brazil 2007-2008-2011, São Paulo, Brazil; FutureEverything 2010, Manchester, UK; National Museum of Contemporary Art 2010, Athens, Greece; Beijing Contemporary Art Centre 2010, Beijing, China; Cape 09 Art Biennale, 2009, Cape Town, South Africa; Biennale of Sydney 2008, Sydney, Australia; National Museum, Szczecin, Poland; [10th] Japan Media Arts Festival, Tokyo, Japan; 13th Barcelona International Festival of Advanced Music and Multimedia Art,SONAR, Barcelona, Spain; Scope New York, US; Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC), Santa Fe, Argentina;Pocket Films , Centre Pompidou, Paris; Videoformes, Clermont – Ferrand, France and EMAF, European MediaArt Festival, Osnabrück, Germany.

“This selection of works is based on my artistic practise where the
work is triggered by a self experienced emotion and then distorted
radically in order to evoke moods or ideas.
The videos are very personal and close to me and for this exhibition
the first video 05.10.38 that I did within this theme in 2005 have
it's internet premier.
Enjoy and welcome into my world of multilayered, overexposed and
distorted emotions.” Anders Weberg
The works of video artists selected by the University of Oradea Romania and VisualContainer

“The project is concerned with the diversity of opinions inside the contemporary artistic phenomenon; this diversity is based on different concrete realities, on virtual aesthetic directions which give birth to a certain conceptual instability in video art.
-What is the meaning of these „virtual errors”?
-What experimental philosophy can integrate not only the specula but also the error?
Is error an important component of aesthetic crisis which can generate and amplify the possibility of ANYTHING, ANYWHERE and ANYHOW?...”

VisualcontainerTv presents on SpecialOne - format dedicated to the most interesting international multimedia artists - NENO BELCHEV Videography from 2004-2010 selected production.

About Neno Belchev
I am a multidisciplinary artist, who over the last few years has been working mainly in the field of video art installations, but I believe the most important thing being an artist is to have freedom of thinking. For me on fist place is the idea and after that I look for media, which is appropriate to present the idea. When I work, I try to understand the way, how we, the humans, perceive the world. How we interact with our surrounding environment. I hope my art works provoke different points of view in the minds of the observers, break their previous models of perceiving the world.

My task as an artist is to look through the cover of things in their real essence, to find the real value of the ideas, which makes the world go around. For me it is interesting to work on the borderline between cultures, which is not so visible in this complex - sometimes contradictory times of globalization. To provoke people to see how their own world is changing in front of their own eyes because of the influence of the diversity of nowadays cultures. For me, art is a form of communication with other people and the artist has in his/ her hands the art as tool, in which the opportunity to provoke and change the thinking of the others is hidden.

I believe there is art, pure art, which artists make for their own spiritual development as well as to find out the divine essence in their selves. This understanding of art is a way of life and a way of thinking with no commercial value.

Art is my way to be free.
Curatorial statement:
We’re assisting with ever-growing doubts to the dramatic social and geographical events that are currently taking place in the European Union members, as having understood that what happens in any part of the Global Village will eventually affect all the others.
Also the world of contemporary art is being pushed by the urgencies of an ever-growing mixing up of several technologies and media languages, which overlap and join with the network of our daily life as ordinary people. And so, within such a confusion and restirring puzzle where ecological pressures melt with identity and global life urgencies that absolutely need responding, Italian videoart can become an effective observation point over what’s topical with both Italy and the wider image of Europe and beyond.
As multi-faceted as the social-cultural kaleidoscope of our contemporary age, the videos on show, listing among the latest additions to VisualContainer’s archive, become a magnifying lens of what’s happening around us: sometimes by creatively magnifiying small and ordinary pieces of daily life, other times by introducing us to more complex art visions which are full of lyrism, the authors are here travelling from the microcosme of our inner and proximal space to the greater stage of the society we’re developing with other inhabitans, in and out the national borders, in the present time and already out in the near future.
About Windows from Gaza for Contemporary Art
The space around us is limited, the ideas in us are unlimited. We came together to think about how we could
break out from here and reach the outside; and how we could open small windows and breathe fresh air. In
this restricted/cramped space – Gaza - we express ourselves in a cultural-bound artistic language, when we
talk to others. A language, that is part of us. “Gaza” is rich in details, that we try to illustrate using new,
descriptive colours.
A group of young artists, bound to a specific, geographic area, in which ideas converge. Deeply believing in
collective co-operation, they try to develop together the creative aspects in the art movement. They are
looking at the most recent contemporary art, that serves them to fully express their artistic abilities and put
them into form. The ideas and reflections of the group come to a synthesis, that is brought to public
attention by regularly holding meetings, exhibitions and workshops, in which both local and international
artists participate. Each of them has taken part in numerous international events in support of their culture,
their art concept, and their effort to interplay with others.
VisualcontainerTV is glad to host a selection from 23th Edition of Les Instants Vidéo, Numériques et Poétiques, International videoart festival, Marseille - France.
We're honoured to welcome one of the most famous French videoart festivals, which has nowadays reached its 23th edition!
The selection is presented on ExhibitContainer, a format that only shows International Videoart festivals and curatorial projects from all over the world.
The on-line exhibition will be nearly simultaneous with the Festival's opening in Marseille, to promote the best interaction between Italy and France on behalf of all videoart followers.

About 23th edition of Les Instants Video - Director of the Festival: Marc Mercier
The Instants Vidéo is the world’s record holder for its length (4 months), as well as for its width (3 continents, 8 countries, 15 cities and 30 places). This double athletic record has no more importance that of eggthrowing or that of the longest travelling in the history of cinema (300m in Godard’s Weekend). It is there only to show our disinthralled passion for Dionysiac excessiveness.

Marseilles : our anchorage ground as well as our runway.
From 3rd September to 19th December, the Nomadic Instants Vidéo,
with the help of partner-organisations, organise the festival stopovers.
The reason why the Instants Vidéo have chosen to be at the same time here and elsewhere -Marseilles being our anchorage ground as well as our runway- is the urge to feel in our flesh that we're not isolated, that a cheerful and insubordinate constellation is being sketched in order to uphold the rallying cry of one of the smaller Resistance networks during World War II : To emancipate and federate our humanities. Here is an unreasonable network : Marseilles, Damascus, La Ciotat, Prague, Nice, Amsterdam, Alexandria, Aix-en- Provence, Oran, Martigues, Port-de-Bouc, [.BOX] Videoart Project Space Milan curated by Visualcontainer, Tlemcen, Kiev, Cairo, Florence.
