About L'Oeil d'Oodaaq Festival
L'Œil d'Oodaaqs crew of explorers is coming back to Rennes in May in order to share their discoveries with the public!
The second Oodaaq festival of poetic images is being held from 10 to 20 May in different places in the city-center of Rennes. There will be a total of 9 video screenings, 5 exhibitions, 4 video-windows, 2 roundtables and 1 performance night.

The festival creates an artistic itinerary which links different art forms, but also cultural institutions with popular cultural places and public space. The festival seeks to confront the different forms of images in contemporary art.
The screening nights will be an opportunity to present international video art selections, curated by L'Œil d'Oodaaq, or by our partners (from Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Colombia, but also Rennes), on the walls of the city center.
The exhibitions will be held at Les Ateliers du Vent, Standards gallery, espace M, L'Antre-Temps gallery and Superstrat gallery. They will become places of experimentation on the undefined limits of the medium video, bringing together visual and spatial installations, photography, drawings, traces of performances.
Performance art will be highlighted during a special performance night at Le Jardin Moderne.
Like last year, curious strollers can discover videos in several shop windows in the streets of the city-center.
Two roundtables will be organized on the questions of poetic images (at the European Art School in Rennes) and international (video) art networks (at the Maison Internationale in Rennes).
The Oodaaq crew hopes to meet you on this poetic itinerary through the city of Rennes!

About Pier Giorgio De Pinto
Pier Giorgio De Pinto is a trans-disciplinary artist, a performer, a curator, a theorist and a media trainer. De Pinto strongly uses new media as a “thinking medium” in which involves the audience, creating performative experiences and immersive environments. His projects usually involve others – musicians, choreographers and artists – from different cultural backgrounds, styles and identity genres. These collaborations enable De Pinto to undertake new and radical experimental projects, capable of stimulating discussion about stereotypes and prejudices, asking awkward questions in the areas of culture, politics and religion.

CHARACTERS on VisualcontainerTV

CHARACTERS
New people, new video identifications
Videoart selection by Giorgio Fedeli (Italy)

from 9 May to 13 June 2012

www.visualcontainer.tv

CHARACTERS
New people, new video identifications
"The video device has represented a privileged medium in contemporary art history to identify the anthropological coordinates of mankind, thanks to its ability in slipping into the spaces of living and shooting both the most ordinary and the hidden identities in our walks of life, thus bringing the "different", the marginalized, the '"other"ones to light.
For over forty years the videocamera has become the bearer of possible visions of the world and its actors by operating from some vantage point directly inside, in contact with or as an emanation of the real: in such a way, it has steadily coped with the problem of attributing identity to people who are actually in constant and unpredictable mobility of roles and designations.
What are therefore the possible characterizations of our and other’s self nowadays, when the traditional biological and social labels seem to have been torn and the physical and cultural traditions of our identity in some way been altered by an incessant technological and social melting pot?
The answer is likely to lie in a delicate balance between the will to bring back our human specificity and the proactive attention to the most plausible suggestions of all new issues that are behind our doors or already in our homes."

International Videoart Festival, Rennes, France

Only on VisualcontainerTV

VisualcontainerTv for the 3rd anniversary of the webtv is glad to presents the Best OF 2011 from OODAAQ Festival based in Rennes, France

About OODAAQ
Oodaaq is an island discovered in 1975 northeast of Greenland. This bank of gravel and silt, covered by several meters of ice, is said to be the most northern emerged land on earth.
It is on this inaccessible and invisible territory that we settled our camp, in order to explore contemporary artistic creation. The nomad inhabitants of Oodaaq are travelling the world and form a collective of creators in constant evolution.
Leading an existence somewhere between reality and imagination, the island of Oodaaq can be seen as a metaphor for video- and photographic images. Although their models are most of the time concrete and real, the image they produce of them is by definition artificial, immaterial, manipulated and manipulating. The gap between image and reality allows a poetic approach to our environment. www.loeildoodaaq.fr

The first Oodaaq Festival of poetic images took place from 5 to 14 May 2011 in Rennes, with exhibitons, screening nights, video windows, as well as performances and a video-bus. More than 80 artists came to exhibit, screen and perform their work in more than 15 places throughout the city of Rennes. The success of the first festival, with 3800 visitors, leads l’OEil d’Oodaaq to reconduct this human and artistic experience with the second edition of the festival in May 2012.
